Reporting to the Ag Area Director, The agricultural area team coordinates, manages, and runs the Agricultural Area of the Stafford County Agricultural Fair & Hartwood Days Festival. This critically important team ensures that leads are obtained (or act as a lead) to run individual competitions and shows. They will coordinate marketing for the Ag Area, as well as ensure that logistical needs (water, hay, etc) are coordinated and obtained (donations, sponsorships, etc). They will work with the different shows to ensure that judges, sanctions, Awards, space, volunteers, etc. etc. are planned for and available for the execution of that competition. They will also coordinate interesting and educational exhibits and demonstrations in booths in the Ag Area and the use of the show rings.

This long term volunteer position can provide a lot of satisfaction to an individual wanting to give back to the community, educate youth, and work with agriculture/animals!

Attributes - who are we looking for:
- Experience in leadership role is a plus
- Understanding of Agricultural endeavors in either a general manner or a specific area
- Experience recruiting, training, managing, and supporting groups of people
- Ability to build relationships and work with volunteers, staff, and community members
- Strong language and communication skills (written and oral)
- Ability to give presentations to large groups
- Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds
- Ability to work well independently and on a team
- Maturity and good judgment
- Enthusiastic and positive attitude toward helping others


will vary, but could include
- working with local establishments to garner support for the Ag Area in sponsorships or partnerships
- locating individuals or organizations to commit to being a lead for shows
- locating judges for shows, or becoming trained as a judge for a show we will be offfering
- assisting in the coordination or management of a show or shows
- Physically working in the Ag Area to prepare it for the event, and afterward cleaning and storing equipment for next year
- other tasks as identified by the Ag Area Director


For this important Volunteer position we are seeking a student in or close to the Stafford / Fredericksburg VA. area, who has a desire to help further the agricultural education of youth and adults in the region.
Some experience or training with animals is preferred, but not required. The perfect fit applicant will have:
• Highly collaborative style; experience developing and implementing communications strategies
• High energy, maturity, and leadership with the ability to serve as a unifying force and to position communications discussions at both the strategic and tactical levels
• Sincere commitment to work collaboratively with all constituent groups, including Ag and Fair Committee and board members, volunteers, sponsors, donors, program participants, and other supporters
• Self-starter, able to work independently, and entrepreneurial; enjoys creating and implementing new initiatives
