DescriptionThe Eugene Mission – A Wellness Center for the Homeless
Welcome to Eugene’s Mission! We are not a homeless shelter in the traditional sense. While we certainly provide the homeless with food and shelter – and do so with an abundance of God’s love – the Eugene Mission’s ultimate goal is to provide holistic long-term solutions that lead to the wellness of its guests. We are positive but assertive with our guests, asking as much of them as they do of us. We arm them with the skills they need to move forward, while inspiring and motivating them to do so.
Internships at the Eugene Mission span a wide range of programs allowing students to gain valuable experience in everything from marketing and development to social work and counseling. We are excited to serve the needy in our community and invite you to be a part of this good work during the course of your education.
All internships are unpaid and will require 8-12 hours a week in an assigned field of responsibility. Depending on the internship, mandatory hours may be scheduled outside of normal business hours and may include weekend shifts. Quarterly internships are generally offered in alignment with college quarters - summer, fall, winter, & spring – and are evenly divided over the year. Accommodations can be made for programs on a semester system.
NON PROFIT SUPPORT INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
Interns in this program support the overreaching work of the mission within their area emphasis. Interns will get an inside look at the daily operations of a nonprofit organization and be a part of our growth as we strive to meet the growing needs in our community.
ResponsibilitiesWe offer one internship per quarter and one year-long internship that supports the Volunteer Coordinator in recruitment, placement and supervision of volunteers. Responsibilities will include event planning and admin.
Requirements*Qualifications: Preferred experience: Advocacy for those living in poverty, an interest and history in non profit work, and a drive to change the world.
We are looking for a team leader AND builder interested in engaging with the community and growing our pool of dedicated volunteers. A successful intern will be a skilled researcher who is a self starter and handles change and challenges with a smile and encouraging word.
*How to Apply: The internship Application can be found at www.EugeneMission.org/Volunteer. Submit that and you'll be invited to our upcoming orientations to find out more about what we do, who we serve and how you can be a part of it.
