DescriptionThe intern’s primary scope of work will entail establishing a volunteer management framework that encompasses the following: ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
•Development of a volunteer handbook that includes policies, procedures, application and agreement form etc.
•Assist with volunteer recruitment, training, and recognition for service
•Update and develop volunteer job descriptions
•Responsible for administration of the volunteer Teen Summer Programs
•Established relationships with other potential groups and organizations for recruitment sources
•Developed policies and procedures for volunteers services
•Organized volunteer events
•Improved volunteer management tracking systems
•Supported the external affairs and development departments
•Maintained volunteer files, records, reports, & database, including the tracking of volunteer hours
•Developed and maintained relationships with volunteers
•Recruited, scheduled and communicated with volunteer groups and individuals from the community
•Assisted with other funds-raising related activities such as customer service calls to donors
•Offer opportunities of self-enrichment, personal growth and fun to students who volunteer their valuable time as we pursue excellence in service to patients, guests, employees and fellow volunteers.
• will demonstrate commitment to the compassionate care vision of Harrington Memorial Hospital.
•Will have opportunity to shadow in other departments to see the different aspects of hospital administration.
•Will have opportunity to choose and create project(s) meeting your interest and needs
• Two – Five days per week for a total of 12- 40 hours a week or as need for college requirements.
• Minimum commitment of 3 months (or semester)
Responsibilities• Research, develop and maintain lists of potential volunteer groups and individuals
• Help manage volunteer outreach using social networking tools such as VolunteerMatch.com
• Seek out community events and and community outreach to recruit more volunteers
•Reply to volunteer inquiries providing information about the organization and matching to specific volunteer role
• Schedule individuals for assignments and events
• Provide scheduled volunteers with necessary documentation in a timely manner, volunteer FAQs, and other necessary documents
RequirementsDetail-oriented, able to follow directions, and take initiative when needed
Outgoing and friendly personality
Professional demeanor Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to multi-task and work well under time constraints
Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Word
