DescriptionFor over 25 years, Open Hand has empowered individuals throughout the Atlanta community to use nutrition to improve their quality of life. Open Hand helps people prevent or better manage chronic disease through Comprehensive Nutrition Care™, which combines home-delivered meals and nutrition education as a means to reinforce the connection between informed food choices and improved quality of life.
We are looking for an energetic, highly-motivated individual to fill our Volunteer Services Intern position. The intern will provide administrative and staff support while gaining a deeper knowledge of volunteer management and nonprofit operations. This is an unpaid, part-time position for registered college/university students.
Responsibilities•Connecting and scheduling volunteers to opportunities within organization including meal packing, meal delivery and market baskets
•Assisting volunteer managers in maintaining a volunteer database of 10,000 volunteers through timely data entry
•Lead volunteer orientations for meal packing, market baskets and meal delivery
•Develop content for volunteer newsletter
•Market research on community and corporate groups
•Providing general administrative support to the Open Hand Volunteer Services Department
•Execute any other duties as requested
Requirements•Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
•Able to multi-task and respond to deadlines
•Ability to work minimum of 16 hours per week
•Self-starter who requires little supervision
•Outgoing demeanor, with the ability to motivate others
