DescriptionPartnershipsInAction is an initiative of Aga Khan Foundation U.S.A. and its network of volunteers across the U.S. to raise awareness and funds for innovative programs that create hope and opportunity for disadvantaged communities in the developing world. The Aga Khan Foundation U.S.A. (AKF USA), established in 1981 in Washington DC, is a private, non-denominational, not-for-profit international organization committed to the struggle against poverty, hunger, illiteracy and poor health, primarily in Africa and Asia. Through the PartnershipsInAction initiative, the Foundation and its volunteers organize events across the nation to help create a more peaceful and prosperous future for people around the world. These events inspire and inform Americans about the power of global partnerships – partnerships that transcend borders, class lines, and religious, gender and age differences.
We are looking for college students or young professionals to serve as interns for approximately 10-12 hours per week. Interns would serve as Youth Operation Specialists for our local PartnershipsInAction Team. Responsibilities include communicating with, guiding and supporting leads within local educational establishments and maintaining relationships with schools, colleges and their administrations. Most of the tasks will consist of independent work alongside monthly meetings, travelling to assigned schools quarterly, and occasional trainings with the Youth Outreach Team, a branch of the PartnershipsInAction Atlanta Core Team.
Our ideal candidate is a young professional interested in interning with a non-profit organization that helps develop the quality of life for individuals throughout the world. The intern would gain invaluable experience with an internationally known developmental agency and would have a unique opportunity for a leadership role to add to their resume. In addition to the above, Aga Khan Foundation will be more than delighted to provide letters of recommendation for those who excel in the position.
