Step up to the Riverside Signal, an independent biweekly news journal covering the Toms River area municipalities and including regional life, culture and events from Sandy Hook to Sunset Beach (Cape May). Depending upon your interest, you can learn about municipal meetings coverage, practice the mechanics of basic article writing, take part in framing and shot composition through events and live music coverage opportunities, study the local area and test marketing ideas in a real-world setting and more. By the end of your internship you should have a greater sense of your ability honed through practicing your chosen skills path plus an assortment of portfolio material for future employers to review and a list of contacts to draw upon.
Responsibilities- Write effective copy, excelling in correct spelling, punctuation, and grammar.
- Use alternate forms of communication (including graphic arts), resulting in improved interactions.
- Edit and proof other team members work and provide constructive feedback.
Requirements- Possess skills at initiating innovative ideas, operating within a group setting and judging correctly what will appeal to target audiences.
- Prefer challenges that involve communication, are people-oriented, promote networking and research, and include roles that call for imagination.
- Must be willing to learn and be honest and open about their experience and preferences through the process.
