DescriptionHi - I have a cashmere sweater line called Carousels and Lace. My line of sweaters sell at boutiques in Los Angeles, and I am going to expand my sweater to other states on the east coast. Currently, I am looking for an intern to do my fashion photography. You can read more about my brand on my website at www.CarouselsAndLace.com.
Also, I have worked in the TV Production world as a Production Manager for over 10 years. I have worked with various networks and production companies such as MTV, E! Entertainment Networks, History Channel, Oxygen Networks, FOX, Pixar, Disney, Lifetime Channel, etc. My credentials are listed on Linkedin. There is definite room for growth from this photography internship opportunity within the media/fashion industry.
A portion of my sweater sales go to East Bay Sanctuary Covenant. I have collaborated with Michael Smith, the director of the refugee right program at East Bay Sanctuary. On February 23rd, 2014, the Dalai Lama honored Michael Smith as an “Unsung Hero of Compassion” for his work with the East Bay Sanctuary Covenant.
The East Bay Sanctuary Covenant is an organization that provides free legal representation to indigent clients in need who have suffered gender violence. A majority are victims of domestic violence or face persecution because of their race or sexual orientation.
The East Bay Sanctuary Covenant has one of the largest affirmative asylum programs in the country. They win nearly 97% of all their cases and they also do some defensive asylum. They also provide services pro bono.
Currently, the East Bay Sanctuary Covenant represents about 300 victims of domestic violence, rape, same-sex discrimination, female genital cutting, and forced marriage cases per year. The women come from various backgrounds, from indigenous Guatemala, Congo, Mexico, and Central and South America. The dedicated team at the East Bay Sanctuary Covenant do not want to turn these women away and they want to help as many women and children as possible.
The proceeds from the Carousels and Lace sweaters go to legal representation for the underprivileged clients and it will go to group therapy sessions. The therapy sessions will be run by a licensed clinician for our most traumatized clients. Carousels and Lace believes all women have the right to physical, spiritual and mental support so we can help pave a road towards healthy and happy lives for these women and their children.
