DescriptionAre you looking for the chance to make a difference? Are you looking to gain hands on experience working in a legislative office? This may be the opportunity you've been looking for. Representative Chang represents the riverfront portion of Detroit, as well as Ecorse and River Rouge, in the Michigan House of Representatives. Her district is an extremely diverse, growing community with unique strengths and concerns.
The office of Representative Stephanie Chang is looking for qualified and energetic undergraduate and graduate interns to assist with legislative office functions. Interns can work in either the Lansing or Detroit office, and will have a wide variety of responsibilities. We hope to provide a great learning experience for our interns in a fun yet challenging and fast-paced environment. This is an unpaid internship, but college credit is possible. This is a great opportunity for those who are interested in community organizing or public service.
Responsibilities• Assist staff with policy research and monitoring of legislation and legislative committees;
• Work on community-related issues and events in the district such as the tax foreclosure prevention project, income tax preparation, Become a Citizen Day, and more;
• Assist with resolution of constituent/community organization issues; and
• Assist with office functions (i.e. telephone messages, mail, filing, etc).
