Description

Calling all communication, business, and political science majors! The Republican Party of Orange County is seeking interns for its headquarters in Tustin. With elections right around the corner, this is the perfect time to get involved with an internship and gain experience in politics on both the local and national levels. As an intern, you will have access to professional networking opportunities with local Orange County politicians, as well as business leaders in the private and public sectors. You may also attend large-scale fundraisers and rallies that feature prominent keynote speakers. In the past, these speakers have included Arizona Governor Jan Brewer, conservative commentator Bill Whittle, and presidential candidates Rick Perry and Rand Paul.

The responsibilities for this internship vary, allowing for interns to gain a wide variety of skills. Interns may assist in managing the office by answering phones, interacting with walk-ins, and performing other necessary office duties. Interns may also help staff events, rallies, and fundraisers. In addition, interns may assist with research, database compilation, and making calls to potential voters and volunteers.

All organized, efficient, and personable students with an interest in politics are welcome to apply. Please send your cover letter, resume, and availability to alice@ocgop.org or call 714-453-0900 with any questions.

Responsibilities

While in the office, duties may include assisting staff in the day-to-day operations within the office; answering inquiries by phone and through written communications; preparing letters, certificates, resolutions and proclamations, attending meetings and community events; filing; faxing; photocopying; etc. and any other knowledge that the intern supervisor feels is necessary for a proper foundation.

To fulfill university internship requirements, a project may be assigned at the completion of their program that corresponds to their work and benefits the organization they were working for.

At least 10 hours per week for two or more months. Interns may choose to schedule up to 40 hours per week. While the Party recognizes the irregular scheduling demands of student life, hours should be relatively consistent from week to week.
