Description

If you are looking for an alternative kind of program to learn Arabic, then look no further than our Teach English and Learn Arabic Program (TELA). We offer Arabic classes for people who are committed to learning the Arabic language. We offer you this program while you are also teaching English conversation courses in our center.

Participants will take courses in spoken Arabic for 3-12 hours per week, in a professional setting and with a curriculum that has been designed to compliment the Arabic immersion experience. You will be learning the vocabulary and phrases you will need to use on a daily basis while living in an Arabic speaking society. This approach will help you to learn to speak Arabic more quickly. Participants will then be able to further develop their Arabic language skills through volunteer work. Classes are available for beginner, intermediate and advanced levels.

The duration of our program is flexible. We have international volunteers/interns coming throughout the year for various lengths of stay. We do prefer that interns/volunteers stay for a minimum of 4 weeks. However, if this is not a possibility, it is not mandatory. Interns are able to stay up to 6 months on a tourist visa. If you would like to stay for longer than 6 months, we can try to help you obtain an extended visa.

Responsibilities

Volunteer teaching will provide you with the opportunity to learn about Palestine. We encourage our volunteers to experience all dimensions of Palestinian and Hebron culture during their time with La Casa. Even though we work hard at La Casa, there is plenty of time in the evenings and weekends to experience Palestine and visit nearby cities such as Bethlehem, Jerusalem, Jericho and Ramallah.

It is expected that you work 25 hours per week (arabic hours deducted from the 25). Your work will consist of the following tasks: -Teaching English conversation courses -Planning educational activities -Organizing educational workshops on varied topics (E.g. how to write a CV, cover letter or formal e-mail) Writing class curriculums - Assisting La Casa Center in strengthening community relations and relations with local/international organizations
