DescriptionNYC Council District 19 Democratic Nominee (victor of September 10th Democratic Primary) Paul Vallone and his campaign, Vote Vallone 2013, located in North East Queens is currently searching for applicants as Campaign Field Interns.
The Internship: This internship program is a great first step for those considering a career in electoral politics and community organizing. As an important part of the campaign's field program, interns will be trained on all of keys aspects of direct voter contact, volunteer recruitment, event building, data management, and Get-Out-The-Vote operations
ResponsibilitiesInterns will be responsible for assisting the campaign in the following ways:
-Engaging in direct voter contact activities including volunteer recruitment, canvassing and visibility
-Researching, building, executing and attending events and parties
-Meeting goals given by staff (ie door knocks, phone calls, etc.)
-Conducting research and managing campaign data
-Contributing to ballot petition collection
-Other Tasks as Needed
-Applicants should be enthusiastic about electing Paul A. Vallone to the New York City Council, District 19, which represents areas of Flushing, Whitestone, Bayside, Malba, Beechhurst, College Point, Little Neck and Douglaston.
-Hardworking, mature, reliable, and possessing a strong desire to learn new skills.
-Goal-oriented and metrics-driven
-A team player
-A connection to Queens is a definite plus but not a prerequisite. Access to a laptop and reliable transportation are also a plus. Bi-lingual applicants are a definite plus. This is a non-paid position, though successful interns will be the first candidates to be considered for paid positions as the campaign staff grows over the summer. The campaign will work with interns to receive school credit when applicable.
