Description

Michael Blake, candidate and Assemblymember in The Bronx, NY, is looking for motivated undergraduate and graduate students to serve as interns. We are accepting part-time and full-time interns with preference given to applicants with flexible schedules. The office will work with each intern to determine the best possible schedule. The office will work with interns receiving college credit for participation in internship.

Biography: Assemblyman Michael Blake is a former senior staffer to President Obama, former Director of African-American and Minority Business outreach in the White House, and currently serves as the Assemblymember of the 79th New York Assembly District. He serves on the housing, banks, election law, corrections, and veterans' affairs committees.

Responsibilities

Interns will work to express and shape the messaging of our office. This will involve a range of responsibilities related to communications and messaging including, but not limited to:
Research;
drafting public statements, public schedule, memos, and press releases;
Creating talking points;
Making recommendations on communications schedule;
Assisting with the management of social media platforms;
Staffing the Assemblymember at events and meetings
Assisting with legislative meetings;

Requirements

o Excellent interpersonal skills;
o Can think on their feet and is a quick learner;
o Ability to work cooperatively and courteously with others;
o Temperament to communicate with a variety of personalities in a tactful, pleasant, and professional manner;
o Knowledge of office policies, practices, and procedures
