Military Order of Purple Heart is seeking a Legislative Affairs Intern for the Spring of 2016. http://www.purpleheart.org/
Chartered by Congress in 1958, The Military Order of the Purple Heart is composed of military men and women who received the Purple Heart Medal for wounds suffered in combat. Although our membership is restricted to the combat wounded, we support all veterans and their families with a myriad of nation-wide programs by Chapters and National Service Officers.

Responsibilities

Monitoring legislative issues and congressional hearings
Conducting research
Helping with message development
Drafting memos, articles, talking points, speeches, and other types of statements
Supporting issue-driven advocacy/grassroots mobilization campaigns

Requirements

Interns must possess strong research, writing, and communication skills. Applicants should be able to demonstrate effective problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to multi-task without constant supervision. Individuals with the desire and ability to work in a self-starter organization are especially encouraged to apply.
