DescriptionWe are currently seeking Spring interns, as well as Summer interns.
The Morris County Democratic Committee is inviting students and recent graduates to gain valuable experience in politics. The Morris County Democratic Committee internship will allow students to test their leadership, communication and team building abilities, while making valuable connections in and contributions to New Jersey politics. Students will also gain satisfaction that they are helping their community by getting involved in the political process, making sure that the most qualified and like-minded individuals are serving in office. If you are a student, or recent graduate, who looks to not only to prepare for your own future, but also the future of your friends and neighbors, you should seriously consider our internship.
Internships are available in the following categories:
Political Internship: Interns will be required to work a minimum of 15 hours per week, including some evening and weekend work.
Campaign Management Internship: A rigorous internship experience designed to prepare interns for a future working on campaigns. Interns will be assigned to a local campaign and take a leadership role within its structure. Interns will be required to work a minimum of 20 hours per week, including evenings and weekends, as well as more hours in the weeks leading up to Election Day. Generally, interns without prior experience will first be assigned as Political Interns, and will be able to apply for the Campaign Management Internship after a certain period of time (though indicating interest from the outset is helpful).
ResponsibilitiesIntern responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, staffing events & candidates, making phone calls to voters, door-to-door canvassing, voter registration drives, administrative office work, organizing volunteers and research projects.
RequirementsQualifications: No experience necessary. We are seeking students and recent graduates. Credit is available with cooperating institutions. All majors are welcome.
Timing: Spring, Summer and Fall internships are available; however, see the above internship description to check on current timing. Accepted interns may start on a rolling basis. Time away for vacations and programs will be understood. The internship is not paid.
Flexibility: Interns will get the most out of their experience if they are willing to vary their schedule. Evening and weekend work is a must.
Attire: For time spent in the office, we will ask that interns adhere to “casual Friday” dress (for example, a polo and jeans or khakis for men). For time spent at formal events or, alternatively, outdoor events, appropriate dress will be noted in advance.
