Scope: 15+ hours per week (Monday-Thursday between 10am-5pm), Unpaid
MassVOTE is a non-partisan, nonprofit organization working to advance electoral justice through legislative advocacy and by registering, educating and mobilizing voters and constituents, especially historically underrepresented communities in Massachusetts and people of color. We are working for a government that is accountable to all of us. Our work for electoral justice is one part of a larger infrastructure for social change: a movement for social, economic, and racial justice.
ResponsibilitiesQualified candidates will be highly motivated, organized, detail-oriented, personable, computer proficient, willing to pitch in where needed, and able to work individually and as a member of a team. Intern projects may include legislative advocacy, community organizing, candidate forums, communications, voter registration, voter engagement, and fundraising.
RequirementsGeneral Requirements and Qualifications: • Ability to commit 15+ hours a week at the MassVOTE office • Assistance with administrative, organizing, communications, fundraising, and other special tasks • Experience with political campaigns, legislative advocacy, nonprofits, communications, or voter registration is a plus • Interest in Massachusetts state politics, voter justice and organizing a must • Strong writing skills required • Friendly and sociable personality with a good sense of humor.
This intern will be supporting on-going projects such as pre-registration, early voting, voter registration drives, etc.
