Position: Sales Support Specialist Location: Chicago, IL 60654 Pay range: $18.00-$20.00 an hour depending on experience Duration: 10/28/2013 to 04/27/2014 Work Environment: Environment is within the office. Job Purpose:
Uses technical knowledge to perform comprehensive solution analysis and responds to complex and/or specialized requests from customers, Solutions Sales Representatives or others to provide timely and accurate final design solutions (configurations) and maintenance to customers or appropriate sales team.
Duties and Responsibilities:
o Engages with the customer to understand the full scope of the solution request.
o Utilizes appropriate tool sets and technical knowledge to effectively process requests for specific hardware, software, license, services and configuration solution designs.
o Creates solution and delivers it to the customer or to appropriate sales team.
o Leverages knowledge of product and solution offerings and technical configurations to identify opportunities for add-ons, services, warranty up-lifts, consolidations and other additional up-sell and cross-sell opportunities.
o Utilizes and shares configuration information to elicit additional business.
o Recommends product alternatives.
o Maintains integrity of customer information in Avnet systems.
o Collaborates with appropriate internal and external resources (vendors, customers, Avnet employees, suppliers, etc.) to resolve all pertinent technical issues impeding delivery of optimum design solutions, escalating as needed.
o Participates in budget reviews as requested and assists in determining gaps and actions needed to improve business results.
o Maintains product and supplier certifications, as required.
Knowledge and Skills:
o Demonstrated independent technical proficiency to effectively and efficiently analyze complex or specialized design solution analysis for specific solution products and services, licensing, practices, procedures and methods.
o Independent proficiency to organize, prioritize and accomplish multiple tasks based on process requirements.
o Demonstrated verbal, written, presentation and interpersonal communications skills sufficient to work in a successful team environment and effectively interface with supplier and customer representatives by telephone and e-mail.
o Has demonstrated ability to effectively apply guidelines to resolve problems.
o Knowledge of supply chain procedures.
o Knowledge of distribution industry.
o Ability to perform mathematical calculations.
o Knowledge of product offerings, applications and requirements.
o Working knowledge of sales and quoting systems.
o Demonstrated customer service skills.
o Demonstrated negotiation skills.
o Demonstrated understanding of how different roles, processes and groups work together to make effective suggestions for improvement.
o Demonstrated technical ability to attain product and/or supplier certifications, as required.
Two (2) years of technical work experience that demonstrates the ability to meet all job requirements (gained obtaining the required formal education or experience in a technical or sales role within a computer products, system solutions-related distribution business or similar environment).
Education and Certification(s):
Associate Degree in a related technical field or an equivalent combination of formal education, training and directly related progressive job experience. Appropriate product/supplier certifications.
