DescriptionThe role is responsible for managing the bank's Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-money Laundering (BSA/AML) quantitative analytics group which is responsible for calibrating, tuning, and testing enterprise wide systems that risk rank clients, screen for OFAC and negative news, and monitor and detect suspicious activity for BSA/ AML compliance.
This role is also responsible for managing, mentoring, and providing technical and personnel guidance to a team of quantitative analysts that evaluate the effectiveness of these systems and monitoring models across FRB, and provide solutions to address any gaps.
Support, facilitate, manage, and mentor the BSA/AML quantitative function and analysts to:
Identify, evaluate, and implement transaction monitoring rules, models, and parameters supporting the bank's BSA-AML Compliance Program
Fine-tune the AML surveillance system (Actimize) to optimize the tradeoff between alert volume and alert quality and enhance reports to display trends, patterns and areas of risk related to monitoring processes
Rationalize and document business rules, thresholds, parameters and scoring methodology of the monitoring system
Write business specifications for IT and project management purposes where needed
Interpret complex information and directions, interpret data and information in a timely manner and bring assigned tasks to completion
Conducting hands-on data analysis, data validation, predictive model development, and forecasting
Provide quantitative and qualitative analysis, including benchmarking and industry best practices studies
Conduct all work activities in accordance with change management, model governance, and other control procedures
Provides automated and ad-hoc data delivery for examiners, auditors, internal investigations and analytics
Stay abreast of current technology developments and BSA/AML trend to understand current BSA/AML environment and how new/emerging product(s) can assist department in meeting strategic goals/plans
Working with various BSA/AML department and other cross functional managers and staff, develop, recommend, and implement monitoring tuning sustainable and repeatable standards and processes to satisfy BSA/AML program requirements.
Support and provide input to audit and exams.
Create and present solutions, results, and recommendations to executive and senior management.
Bachelor?s degree or higher in Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Statistics, Economics, or equivalent
Minimum of 3 years management and supervisory experience
Good knowledge of business intelligence reporting/data warehousing/customer analytics concepts
Hands-on experience using data querying, statistical analysis, and reporting tools (SAS, R, SQL, and Excel)
Demonstrated ability to communicate technical solutions clearly to senior management, business users, business analysts/data analysts and technology teams
Master?s degree in Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Statistics, Econometrics, or equivalent
Experience in analytics and predictive modeling ? hands on model development and strong mastery of modeling approaches and data mining tools and algorithms.
Experience with A/B testing design and implementation
Experience with software development processes and technology, and software quality assurance
Experience of working within a Compliance function within financial industry
Experience with the regulatory oversight, examination, and/or other audit processes
Knowledge/understanding of BSA/AML regulations
