Description

The Artistic & Education Intern works directly with the Artistic & Operations Director to coordinate educational and promotional event(s) personnel assignments and all operational and logistical information for the duration of the festival. The Artistic & Education Intern is expected to work closely and effectively with the Artistic & Operations Director, Orchestra Manager, Music Librarian, Music Director, Guest Conductors, Production Manager, and Community Link Coordinator to ensure clear communication regarding personnel assignments for educational and promotional events among the staff and clear dissemination of this information as a liaison to the orchestra.

Responsibilities

Assisting the Artistic & Operations Director in the daily functions of the festival gaining hands-on experience in the areas of Community Engagement, Artistic Planning, Education, and Operations. Duties include but are not limited to: scheduling outreach and education ensembles, working with ensembles to assist them in outreach events, attending all outreach events and concerts as assigned, communicating with sponsorship and other community organizations to coordinate ensembles, assisting the Orchestra Manager and Production Manager in production needs for seminars and outreach events, create and maintain time sheets and schedules, assisting with guest artist and clinician itineraries and hospitality, act as main artist liaison, assisting with guest artist housing and transportation needs, communication with local hotels and resorts for reservation needs, creation of guest artist and clinician welcome packets, manage orchestra and staff comp ticket requests, create weekly rehearsal schedule information for Riverwalk Center Box Office Staff, occasional stage duties as needed

Requirements

Previous orchestral experience is required either as administrative or performance. Ability to read music and computer skills are required. Arts administration students are encouraged to apply. Strong organizational skills required. Must be able to handle organizational and communication aspects of the position in a positive, professional, and timely manner. Applicant must be able to handle confidential situations effectively and professionally with an even-tempered and fair approach. Must work well under pressure and is willing to take directions and requests from many people while being able to prioritize tasks. Above all, must have a positive attitude and be a team player.
