Drowning Prevention Foundation
In-Person & Virtual
DescriptionThe Drowning Prevention Foundation, a Bay Area nonprofit agency that works to create awareness and advocate for policy change to prevent childhood drowning, is currently looking for an Advocacy Intern!
If interested, please email Kyle Elliott (Volunteer Director) at email@example.com with a customized cover letter and resume. In your cover letter, please include the position(s) you are interested, relevant experience, and why you want to work with the Drowning Prevention Foundation.
ResponsibilitiesLocation: Benicia, CA (Combination of in-person and virtual)
Mentor: Nadina Riggsbee, Founder and Board President, Benicia, CA
Learn how to advocate for water safety legislation from our founder, Nadina Riggsbee. We are currently trying to introduce a life jacket bill in California similar to one we just helped pass in Massachusetts. The Advocacy Intern will also help renew the Drowning Prevention Month (May) proclamations in several cities and states across the country. Additionally, the Advocacy Intern can help develop a training program to teach drowning prevention advocates in other states how to get water safety laws passed.
Other responsibilities include reviewing and organizing files (print and electronic) to document the history and accomplishments of our organization. A computer savvy individual is preferable to help troubleshoot tech challenges as needed.
This not a traditional internship position; a majority of work is done virtually to allow individuals to work on projects and tasks at their own convenience. Nonetheless, you will receive guidance and supervision from your respective mentor.
