Gator Country is a 15 acre alligator and reptile sanctuary that sees over 30,000 visitors per year, where conservation and education come together, serving to protect some of the most amazing animals in the world. Gator Country has used public media to push alligator conservation including starring in its own TV show Gator 911, and appearing in other hit shows like River Monsters and Billy the Exterminator.
Description: This unique internship allows for hands on learning with some of the largest reptiles in the world, as well as gaining experience in environmental education.

Responsibilities
Expectations: Duties for the intern will include general animal husbandry, animal training, general exhibit maintenance, park maintenance and public education.
Requirements
Required Qualifications: Only applicants with or pursuing a degree in Biology, Wildlife Management or Zoology will be considered. Applicants should demonstrate a strong interest in reptiles, conservation and environmental education. Applicants must be willing to work under a variety of conditions including high heat and humidity, biting and stinging insects and certain stressful situations where the applicant will need to think quickly and creatively. This is an alligator sanctuary, so applicants will be working with large American alligators which can be dangerous. Applicants must be in good physical condition, being able to lift a minimum of 75 lbs. Applicants must have a valid Driver’s License and preferably would have their own transportation. Gator Country presents three educational shows per day, so applicants must be comfortable in public speaking.
Desired Qualifications: Ability to work weekends and holidays, experience handling reptiles and knowledge of crocodilian conservation.
