Description
Since 1995, chashama has championed the movement to re-purpose vacant properties in New
York City; recycling them into artist workspaces, presentation venues and gallery spaces, while
simultaneously invigorating the surrounding community landscape with an influx of culture,
creativity and business.
chashama, Inc is currently looking for enthusiastic interns for the following positions:
Arts Programming & Development Intern: will assist the Programming Director and
Development team. They will help with the management of the visual artists-in-residence
program at chashama, coordination/support of special events, openings, open studio events
and exhibitions, assist with programming our exhibition spaces and windows program and
help promote the Visual & Performance arts program. Interns will also assist in writing press
releases, event postings, funder research, social media, attending and photographing openings,
maintaining program tracking documents and general department administrative support.
Arts Administration Intern: will assist with the day to day running of the office and will be
involved with many aspects of the non-profit organization, including help with planning and
organizing our annual spring/fall gala, fundraising and promotional events throughout the year,
attend openings, social media, maintenance of office databases and contact management,
meet with potential artists/supporters or organize mailings and marketing materials and work
with our operations and administrative team within a non-profit management environment.
Graphic Design Intern will assist with designing and creating press releases, work on
organizational, event and marketing materials, website and newsletter designs, as well as some
administrative duties. Focus will be on creating a sponsorship deck for our annual gala, various
proposal designs and event promotion materials and invites. Knowledge of Adobe Design Suite
required. Photography and/or web design experience a plus but is not necessary.

Requirements
The ideal candidate is highly motivated, organized and takes initiative and responsibility for his
or her projects. Candidates must be bright, dependable, hardworking, self-motivated, detail-
oriented and possess strong communication skills.
Qualifications:
-Experience with Microsoft Office and Excel (Adobe design software a plus)
-Internet/web savvy
-Interest in the performing and visual arts.
-Hours and days are flexible. 2 or 3 days per week preferred, and interns are expected to attend
events and some openings.
