Description
Since 1995, chashama has championed the movement to re-purpose vacant properties in New York City; recycling them into temporary artist studios and gallery spaces, while simultaneously invigorating the surrounding community landscape with an influx of culture, creativity and business.The intern in Development and Special Events will work with our Development Director to assist in managing our grants calendar and may be asked to assist with the preparation of grants. Responsibilities include research for government, foundation, corporate and individual funders; data entry; support of special events; and general department administrative support.
The intern in Arts Programming will assist the Program Director with the management of the visual artists-in-residence at chashama; will help to coordinate special events, open studio events, and special exhibitions; will assist with the programming in our exhibition spaces; will assist with the windows program, chashama’s hallmark storefront window performance art program; will assist in the promotion of the visual & Performance arts program in the arts community; and will help with general office duties.
The administrative intern will assist with the day to day running of the office. They will also help to plan and organize our annual fall gala as well as other fundraising and promotional events throughout the year.
We are also looking for interns for our chashama film festival as well as interns with graphic design or IT/Networking experience!
Requirements
The ideal candidate is highly motivated, organized and takes ownership and responsibility for his or her projects. Candidates must be bright, dependable, hardworking, self-motivated, detail-oriented, possess strong communication skills, and be willing to take initiative.Qualifications:
-Experience with Microsoft Office and Excel (Adobe design software a plus)
-Internet/web savvy
-Interest in the performing and visual arts.
-Hours and days are flexible. 2 or 3 days per week preferred
