Description

The Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America is a non-profit, volunteer-driven organization dedicated to finding the cure for Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, two chronic and often debilitating digestive diseases that impact 1.4 million Americans. Four decades ago, the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation created the field of Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis research. Today, the Foundation funds cutting-edge studies at major medical institutions, educational workshops and symposia, our scientific journal, camp for kids with Crohn’s and colitis (Camp Oasis), and local patient support services all across the country. Team Challenge is the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation’s endurance training and fundraising program. Through Team Challenge, you can run or walk 13.1 miles or train for a triathlon or cycling event while helping to find a cure for Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.

The Rocky Mountain (Denver) Chapter of the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation (www.ccfa.org) is looking for an energetic and passionate intern for its Team Challenge program (www.ccteamchallenge.org). The work involves grassroots marketing, public relations, social media, database management, and sales.

Responsibilities

Help manage social media network
Reach out to media in the Denver area and distribute PSAs, press releases, etc.
Market Team Challenge in local Denver area through community calendars and the distribution of marketing materials, etc.
Research/find vendors that could be potential sponsors or donors (for both monetary and in-kind donations).
Represent Team Challenge at local races to hand out marketing materials and recruit runners
Help to maintain database integrity
Work with Team Challenge Manager to develop new event / project ideas
Assist in implementation of marketing plan
Available to work 10 hours/week (flexible hours & schedule)

Requirements

Experienced in social media (Facebook & Twitter)
Business, Marketing, Communications or Non-profit concentration preferred (not required)
Excellent verbal and written communication - Feel comfortable answering phones and calling participants
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with people of all levels; team player.
Dependable
Outside of the Box Thinker
Flexible schedule is a plus
Internet savvy
Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
Connection to / knowledge of Crohn’s Disease or Ulcerative Colitis a plus (not mandatory)
