The Office of the Procurement Executive seeks motivated undergraduate students, with excellent communication and customer service skills, to work with an accomplished, diverse team, providing a full range of contracting support for mission requirements. Contracting Officers are responsible for the procurement of the Agency's products and services. They acquire products and services in an efficient, cost-effective manner; and provide administrative support on contracts while developing technical expertise. With close supervision, contracting interns will learn and use innovative acquisition business practices as they gain contracting experience in the areas of pre-award acquisition planning and documentation solicitation, negotiation, administration and contract closeout.
Requirements
Minimum Requirements: Applicant must be a full-time student enrolled in a 4-5 year college program majoring in business or business-related fields such as administration, management, finance, accounting, pre-law, or contracts/acquisitions/procurement (other fields of study will be considered on a case-by-case basis); able to work a full time 90 day summer tour; and must maintain a 3.0 GPA in a business-related applicable major. The successful applicant will possess strong analytic and problem-solving skills, and must have exceptional customer service skills. The applicant should also possess excellent written and oral communication skills. General administrative duties are required, and attention to administrative detail is a must.
All applicants must successfully complete a thorough medical and psychological exam, a polygraph interview and an extensive background investigation. US citizenship is required.
To be considered suitable for Agency employment, applicants must generally not have used illegal drugs within the last twelve months. The issue of illegal drug use prior to twelve months ago is carefully evaluated during the medical and security processing.
