Description

Children's Theater Interns at Springville Center for the Arts(SCA) participate in a summer long residency. Activities include acting, teaching, managing theater productions. The program includes productions for children staffed completely by the interns as well as educational programming taught by the interns. Participants do a little of everything. This is not a paper pushing internship! The program begins right after the semester and ends mid-August. (Shorter vacations are fine.) SCA is a multi-arts center located in rural Western New York State. An apartment and stipend of $150 per week is provided. Responsibilities

Responsibilities vary throughout the program - Work with others to produce a workshop and short theater program for elementary students - Teach a variety of theater related workshops for ages PreK-8th grade. Musical Theater, Puppetry, Creative Movement, Storytelling, Shakespeare - topics dependent on applicants. - Manage theater space while producing shows related to classes - Work with HS and College students to produce a musical. - You will direct, act, teach, learn technical skills

Requirements

- Ability to perform for children - Because of legal requirements you must be seeking a degree in an arts related field: theater, performance, music performance, arts education, dance, etc. - Comfortable working with children in a workshop setting - You must possess self-initiative. We give guidance. You bring ideas. - You must be comfortable with all areas of theater production. You do not have to have experience with power tools for example but you must be willing to learn.
