Description

CEOs for Cities is a civic innovation lab and network for city progress and success, connecting cross-border, cross-sector, cross-generational civic CEOs and change makers to each other and to smart ideas and practices.

The CEOs for Cities Success Intern works primarily with the President and CEO, but also with Mark Ebner, the Manager of Research and Engagement, and the Communications Manager, in the Cleveland office located at Cleveland State University's Levin College of Urban Affairs, 17117 Euclid Avenue. (CEOs for Cities maintains 3 offices--in Chicago, Cleveland, and Washington, DC). The President and CEO is Lee Fisher.

The Intern is expected to work a minimum of 15 hours a week for a minimum of 4 months. There is no salary or benefits, but upon successful completion of the 4-month period, the Intern will receive a stipend of $500. Extension of the internship or full-time or part-time employment with CEOs for Cities after completion of the 4-month internship will be considered if the Intern is interested.

The Intern provides organizational and creative support to the President and CEO and other Cleveland staff in the Cleveland office. The Intern assists with the CEO's scheduling and helping to manage the CEO's workflow and project management. The Intern assists with technology and social media, speech writing, research, event planning, project management, and visual presentations. The Intern also provides support to other Cleveland staff in grant and report writing, research, marketing, communications and website management.

Responsibilities

-Assist in grant and report writing and research
-Assist with public policy research
-Assist in development of branding materials such as brochures, videos, etc.
-Assist in development of CEOs for Cities website
-Assist in planning CEOs for Cities local, regional, and national meetings
-Organize regular calls with key constituents in the event-planning process
-Help coordinate the master timeline of planning and execution of the vent (including mass mailings, speaker briefing, program creation, and event evaluation)
-Assist with writing and research for CEOs for Cities publications (ReThink, event emails, etc.)
-Assist with the day to day and long-term strategic scheduling for the CEO using Outlook Calendar, and help coordinate travel logistics for CEO (in conjunction with travel agency)
-Help organize and manage the CEO's reactive and proactive work flow--develop and maintain an ongoing workflow management system that tracks all calls to be returned and scheduled, meetings to be scheduled, all items that require follow up, and ongoing and future projects
-Take notes in all meetings and calls with CEO
-Ensure prompt and appropriate follow-up to all meetings, calls, and matters during and immediately after travel for CEO
-Help record contact information from all business cards within 24 hours of receipt
-Help process all travel reimbursements
-Assist CEO with preparation f PowerPoint presentations and speeches
-Assists other staff with scheduling when necessary

Requirements

-High level computer/technology, social media, and PowerPoint skills
-High level knowledge of Outlook Calendar
-Experience and skill in graphic design preferred but not necessary
-Very creative and entrepreneurial
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills
-Willingness and ability to occasionally travel with the CEO to a wide variety of American cities
-A strong, flexible team player with a positive attitude, open to new ideas and change
-A willingness to assist all members of the team whenever necessary
-A strong work ethic that demonstrates willingness to work beyond 8:30 am-5 pm whenever necessary
-A self-starter who initiates projects, makes suggestions, and generates new ideas
-Strong organizational skills with a keen attention to detail
-Strong copy-editing abilities for CEOs for Cities publications
-Ability to multi-task and prioritize pressing work effectively
