Health Professions Pipeline COPE Health Solutions offers both internship and scholarship opportunities to individuals interested in pursuing careers in health care. Our unique internships provide unprecedented direct patient care experiences in clinical settings. Our internships are designed to allow pre-health professionals to interact directly with health care professionals and to explore potential career opportunities in allied health, nursing and medicine. Clinical Care Extender Internship The Clinical Care Extender Internship features a clinically-focused experience that gives pre-health professionals unprecedented access to direct patient care. Clinical Care Extender Interns become valuable members of the patient care team alongside nurses, physicians and allied health professionals in clinical and administrative settings. Interns receive training to participate in basic patient care tasks such as bathing, changing and feeding patients as they rotate among the different departments within the hospital. For instance, interns may have the opportunity to serve in areas such as the Emergency Department, observe surgeries performed in the Operating Rooms or witness babies being born in Labor & Delivery. Requirements

Requirements for Clinical Care Extender Internship Clinical Care Extender Intern Requirements: • Individuals must be 18 years or older • Accepted, currently enrolled in or graduated from an accredited college or university • Complete Pre-Training Paperwork • Attend the Immunization Open House and submit required immunization/ test records • Attend mandatory 3-day training • Pass post-training exam Clinical Care Extender Internship Schedule Requirements: • Serve a minimum of one, four-hour shift each week (most departments are open 7am-11pm) • Attend all bi-monthly Clinical Care Extender meetings • Accumulate a total of 280 hours of internship hours How to Apply Step #1: Apply •Intern enrollment occurs every three months at each clinical site •Click here to schedule a one-hour interview at one of our clinical sites Important: Please apply to one site only. If you apply to more than one site, your application may be automatically denied. •Once you select a date and time for an interview, you will be navigated to a new page that will confirm your interview. There will also be an attached application. Please complete this application and bring it with you to your interview Step #2: Interview •Invitations to training are granted on a rolling basis- Space is limited, so your chances to be invited to training are best if you apply and interview early! Step #3: Pre-Training Paperwork •Complete and submit all required pre-training paperwork: (1) Proof of immunizations, (2) TB test results, (3) CPR certification Step #4: Health Clearance •Attend the Health Clearance Open House to submit copies of your required immunizations/tests record and pre-training paperwork. •Specific information about the Health Clearence Open House dates and requirements will be provided at your interview Step #5: Attend Training: •Mandatory three-day event, held on weekends •Training consists of both hands on and classroom style learning and will cover various topics that will prepare you for your internship experience including; infection control, patient care techniques, customer service, cultural competency, confidentiality, introduction to patient care team, and much more... •Pass entrance exam to become a Clinical Care Extender Intern!
