Description
The duties of this internship are primarily focused in the area of community outreach. However, an intern may be asked to complete tasks for other departments within our agency as needed.
Position description:
• Initiate and staff informational tables at special events including concerts, speeches, and college campus events.
• Participate in community health fairs, staffing information tables to provide sexuality and health information to health fair visitors.
• Help maintain the online grassroots network.
• Create appropriate materials for information tables, including games, activities, etc.
• Expand outreach program to other venues.
• Assist with clerical/ office duties.
• Fulfill other duties as assigned by the Public Affairs Director and Volunteer/Intern Coordinator
Requirements
• Excellent interpersonal communication and public speaking skills.
• Preferred but not mandatory background knowledge of sexual health and reproductive rights issues.
• Reliable transportation to and from downtown Pittsburgh and health fairs in the surrounding area.
• Available to work 10 to 15 hours a week. Able to attend variably scheduled fairs during the middle of the work week (i.e. 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, etc.)
• Support Planned Parenthood’s mission.
