DescriptionThank you for your interest in the CAFY’s program Counseling/Social Work Internship. Our training program is designed to facilitate the transition from student to professional through training seminars, supervision and clinical experiences.
At CAFY our aim is to create an atmosphere that is conducive to intern's learning and development through an appropriate balance of support and challenge.
We have a culturally and professionally diverse staff who are committed to providing quality training for our interns. Our staff represent various theoretical orientations, and share a commitment to providing multicultural sensitive clinical and training experiences. Our program offers individual and group counseling, outreach, consultation and crisis intervention to those recovering from the trauma of crime.
ResponsibilitiesCAFY Counseling Center’s (CCC) Internship program recruits both Bachelors and Masters Degrees level candidates each academic year. The interns generally serve up to 3-8 hours per week. Flexible schedule.
This is an unpaid internship working with excellent experienced supervisor and can provide a broad knowledge of experience for the right candidate.
Under supervision of CAFY’s LGPC/LGSW, Practicum & Intern students will perform the following:
• Provide one-on-one therapy sessions to customers of CAFY who are experiencing a wide range of emotional, psychological, personal, or trauma difficulties; be skilled at crisis intervention and management.
• Document and maintain client files; conduct preventive psycho-educational workshops/groups.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Director.
• Interns are expected to model professional behavior with customers at all times.
