Dig Inn Seasonal Market is a fast casual restaurant with 5 locations (soon to be 7) in New York City. We care about food - where it comes from, how it's prepared, how it tastes, and how it makes you feel. We serve quality meats and fresh veggies that are both flavorful and fresh - everything is made from scratch everyday. Dig Inn will be looking to expand, both in NYC and new markets over the next 12-18 months. Our goal is to develop this concept into a national brand over the coming years.
We’re looking for a smart, enthusiastic rising college juniors, seniors, or recent grads to help out in our Midtown office. This internship is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in joining an exciting startup in the hospitality industry to develop a variety of business skills and gain valuable work experience.
You will be ready to roll up your sleeves and put on various hats by helping out in whatever capacity needed. The opportunities are pretty endless here, ranging from those mundane administrative tasks to local store marketing and coordination of events to restaurant operations.
ResponsibilitiesA typical day in the life of a Dig Inn intern:
7:00am: Snooze. Too early!
7:45am: Wake up. I don’t get up this early for class. It’s fine I’ll have a SERIOUS GREEN juice at Dig Inn as soon as I get there.
8:30am: Enroute to the office, check emails to see if anything needs to be picked up from Staples on my way in...
9:03am: Get to the office, MTA raising these fares and still so much ‘train traffic ahead of us’ making me ‘late’. Check emails right away and answer anything outstanding from yesterday - customer service, catering requests, etc.
9:15am: Tidy up the office a bit, ask around if anyone needs some filing done.
9:45am: Help out with some daily sales reconciliations. Mmmm love those sales rec’s!
10:45am: Enough of that, time for some creative activity: edit some posters with Photoshop. Don’t know photoshop? Refer to lynda.com.
12-2pm: Go for a round in the customer service ring answering any customer questions, concerns, complaints, find missing orders and follow up with the appropriate restaurant.
2:15pm: Record lunch at Madison Avenue, and few late deliveries - uh oh! Talk a few customers off the ledge. Time for coffee, and maybe a stroll.
2:30pm-5pm: Human resources/payroll exercises, maybe write a blog post, research how to compost paperboard trays, and draft an email for an upcoming marketing campaign. Maybe a couple of high fives in between.
RequirementsJuniors/seniors enrolled in an undergraduate program preferred, majoring in business, marketing or hospitality. Past restaurant experience might grant you some bonus points. We’re pretty flexible in terms of days & hours. And rest assured that you won’t leave hungry - unlimited free food and juice!
