DescriptionA new, private ESL/language school in the South Florida area is looking for an assistant/trainee to the school director. For the right candidate, the position may eventually lead to a permanent position. The candidate will help with the organization and management of the school. The school will focus mainly on classes and training for foreign executive clients as well as business professionals. We will also offer academic and social/tourist programs in addition to test preparation. Clients will be adults only. ResponsibilitiesCandidate will be reporting directly to the school director. In summary, the Director will be responsible for recruiting students, the success of all school operations and overseeing all programs and services offered at the school including academics, housing, activities, and general administration; looking after the well-being of students; monitoring student satisfaction, staff professionalism, academic integrity, compliance; meeting student enrollment and operating income goals; ensuring that the goals of the company are met; and using good judgment and common sense in all decisions relating to the school’s operation. The candidate will work with the director in all of these areas. Some of the more specific duties include assisting with:
All communication and information related to academic policies and procedures.
Counseling for students on academic matters, and manage all classes; handle and mediate various disputes /problems between students and teachers.
Curriculum and policy changes according to standards and guidelines.
Developing and implement customer service, public relation/promotional activities that will result in growth for the school.
Working directly with independent agents to recruit students.
RequirementsSome of the preferred qualities we seek in the candidate are:
Bachelors degree; Masters in TESOL preferred
TESL/DELTA/CELTA certification a plus
Experience in sales and marketing
Experience with independent language agents and recruiting
Knowledge of the accreditation process of various ESL organizations
Tact, patience and diplomacy, particularly with a multi-cultural work environment
Exceptional customer service, entrepreneurial and leadership skills
Experience teaching languages or ESL/EFL to adults in a mixed language environment
Foreign language ability preferred
Able to travel locally and knowledge of the South Florida area
International work experience or travel is a plus
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
