Advertising/Marketing/Public Relations, Business Development/Sales
Practicum (or field experience) in Marketing/Marketing Management is a practical, general workplace training opportunity supported by an individualized learning plan developed by the employer, college, and student. We are seeking either:
(1) Students who already have a job that includes (or can add) some marketing-related responsibilities and wish to receive up to six (6) college credit hours OR
(2) Employers who are seeking interns for various marketing-related jobs that maintain an academic structure.
Because the course is taught strictly online, MRKG 1366 is available to students and employers located anywhere in the world.
Work-based learning is an educational strategy that provides a range of experiences that are intentionally designed to help students extend and deepen classroom work and make progress toward learning outcomes that are difficult to achieve through classroom or standard project-based learning alone. The El Centro Practicum in Marketing program is a continuum of experiences that encompasses Career Awareness, Career Exploration, Career Practicum, and Career Preparation in the broad field of marketing, including (but not limited to) advertising, public relations, sales promotion, professional selling, customer relations/customer service, and distribution/logistics.
Must enroll in MRKG 1366 prior to the first day of class of the current semester. Course Prerequisite: MRKG 1311 and/or or demonstrated competence approved by the instructor. Students are also required to have demonstrated college-level “reading, writing and/or math skills” prior to enrolling in this course. Students should additionally be well-suited for distance learning by passing the SmarterMeasure assessment.
