DescriptionPreMedLife Magazine, the web's leading online publication for students applying to medical school, is seeking an editorial assistant to support our editorial team. Since its launch in 2010, PreMedLife magazine has grown to over 21,000 readers and the digital edition has seen over 1 million page views.
Working virtually from your home or dorm room, the Editorial Assistant will participate in a variety of tasks including general research, correspondence, fact-checking, proofreading, and other activities as needed. In addition to these responsibilities, the successful candidate will also be responsible for reporting and writing stories, principally for online publication
This internship position requires a 10 hour per week commitment for an initial period of 3 months. The ideal Editorial Assistant aspires to a career in publishing, is computer literate, has a demonstrated interest in writing, and is social media savvy.
Responsibilities-Participate in a variety of tasks, including general research, correspondence creation, fact-checking, proofreading, and other editorial and administrative activities as needed;
-Report on stories for the Newsbites section of the magazine and write articles for the other regular sections in the magazine as needed.
-Conduct phone and video interviews (via Skype) with doctors, medical students, admissions staff members, and others
Requirements-Good writing ability and the ability to produce on deadline;
-Excellent attention to detail;
-Adaptable, organized, able to pick up new skills quickly and highly interested in online media;
-Self-motivated, self-starter able to set and meet tight deadlines, work on multiple projects concurrently. Must be a team player willing to take on additional challenges as needed
-Ability to create content and marketing language for websites and social media;
