Description

LBFE is seeking a part-time Elder Assessment Intern with compassion for the elderly. Working closely with the Program Manager, the intern will have the opportunity for face-to-face elder assessments, identify and contact senior/public housing, community groups, and church groups to generate new elder referrals, record quantitative and qualitative data recorded from ADL assessments of elders, and assist with the establishment of new volunteer/elder matches for the Visiting Volunteer Program.

Responsibilities

• Identify and contact senior/public housing, community groups, and church groups to generate new elder referrals
• Work with LBFE Staff in face-to-face elder assessments throughout San Francisco
• Record quantitative and qualitative data recorded from ADL assessments of elders
• Assist with the establishment of new volunteer/elder matches for the Visiting Volunteer Program
• Assist with various day-to-day tasks related to LBFE programs and events, including volunteer and elder data management, and telephone coverage

Requirements

• Love of the elderly and dedication to social justice and humanitarian issues
• Background in Nursing, Social Work, and Gerontology preferred
• Knowledge of Activities of Daily Living (ADL) Assessments
• Ability to take initiative and to work independently and as part of a small team
• Organization, flexibility and ability to handle multiple tasks- prior office and/or project coordination experience preferred
• Ambition, detail orientated, and interpersonal skills needed
• Preferred experience with database management systems
