Title: Engineering Intern Location: VA-Richmond ALSTOM has provided U.S. customers with advanced power generation equipment, technology and services for over 100 years. ALSTOM is currently recruiting for anEngineering Internto join our North America Steam Turbine Execution Center (EC) in Richmond, VA. Local housing assistance is not provided. The Engineering Intern shall support the Steam Turbine Engineering department on steam turbine rotating and stationary equipment service projects. Essential duties and responsibilities will include but are not limited to: · Support the assigned Engineering group applying the engineer principles acquired in academic coursework. · Completion of a collaborative project focused on the individual's skills development while contributing to business. · Examples of engineering tasks could include: * Preparing models, designs, drawings, and layouts using CAD software. * Applying power generation engineering principles, equipment geometries, assembly/disassembly procedures, and reverse engineering/measurement techniques. * Supporting and performing structural, aerodynamic, or thermal performance engineering calculations Education · Minimum of 2 years of full-time academic coursework in an accredited engineering curriculum. · Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher (current transcript required) · Coursework in Materials Science, Statics, Dynamics, Machine Design, Thermodynamics and Heat Transfer preferred.Knowledge, Skills and Experience · Basic understanding of Power Generation and the Rankine Cycle required. · Knowledge of machine design, dimensioning and tolerancing, as well as basic manufacturing processes required. · Experience using Computer Aided Design (CAD) software and/or Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools is preferred. · Authorized to work in the US without any further action from ALSTOM · Ability to pass pre-employment physical, background check and drug screen.
