Kelly Services is partnering with Shire Pharmaceuticals to offer an exciting internship program with a world-class pharmaceutical organization. Shire's US Internship Program offers hands-on work experience to students completing their undergraduate and graduate degrees and allows Shire to engage with the local community and discover new and emerging talent. Requirements for the Shire US Internship Program include:- Enrollment at an accredited college/university
- Completion of at least sophomore year of undergraduate study by internship start date (Both undergraduate and graduate students that apply will be considered)
- Major in a field appropriate to the internship
- Minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
- Legal authorization to work in the US
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Ability to start on one of the designated start dates.
- The individual will contribute to both upstream and downstream capture development of SanB
- Downstream capture: It involves evaluation of membrane and monolith based matrices to eliminate the capacity bottleneck, and the necessary development required to have a scalable process.
- Upstream capture: It involves evaluation of membrane chromatography as a mode for continuous harvest processing.
- The individual will work closely with vendors to accomplish the objectives set forward by the continuous chromatography team.
- The individual will be a member within a group responsible for performing purification process development that includes technology transfer, evaluation of novel separation technology, process modeling and general engineering support during development and commercial manufacturing of biopharmaceuticals.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, good understanding of engineering and bioseparation principles, good problem solving skills and a strong team player.
- Perform SDS-PAGE assays.
- Analyze, interpret and summarize data. Present the results to the group and put a final presentation together.
- Statistical background a plus.
