Simplicity Pattern Co. Inc. was formed in 1927 and continues to be the leading pattern company in the home sewing industry. Our office is in New York City, the heart of the fashion industry in the United States. Our main business is the design and production of fashion patterns for home sewers and designers. We produce many exciting pattern collections such as our patterns inspired by “Project Runway” and patterns “Built by Wendy”. We also produce patterns for decorating your home, crafts and doll clothes designs. We showcase our patterns in large colorful catalogs filled with the latest designs photographed on fashion models and we also use artwork to display design details.
Simplicity has an internship program for students interested in fabric, fashion and design. This program enables the student to earn academic credit for actual work experience. Candidates who are accepted for this program will be reimbursed by Simplicity for commutation
Responsibilities
We currently have an intern position available in our Fabric Library reporting to the Fabric Director. The candidates’ primary focus should be in fashion and fabric. Responsibilities include researching fashion colors and trends, work on the seasonal color palette, construct presentation boards, swatch color cards, design trend report covers, sort fashion magazine clips and organize the fabric library. You will learn how to predict future colors and trends and how to put together fashion presentations. You will also learn which vendors carry certain types of fabrics, be involved in company fabric sales, and attend trade shows such as Premiere Vision in NY and the Directions fabric show.
Requirements
Knowledge of Word and Word Art a plus.
