Description
The Salem-Keizer Volcanoes, the Single A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants, are seeking interns for the Fall and Winter months. This unpaid internship program offers experience in multiple areas of professional baseball including; sales and marketing, facility operations, administration, community affairs, merchandise, and entertainment.
Responsibilities
Interns will learn the best practices and procedures and assist with a variety of tasks including:
• Distribution of promotional materials in the community
• Working with front office staff to plan promotions and events
• Performing research and collecting ideas
• Staffing mascot / team appearances in the community
• Assisting with box office operations and providing unsurpassed customer service
• Assisting with data entry and administrative support
• Other support tasks as determined
Some interns use the experience for school credit while others participate for the experience alone. This is a great opportunity for someone interested in taking their first step towards a career in sports, marketing or entertainment.
HOURS
Approximately 5 - 10 variable office hours a week (exact hours to be determined)
Standard office hours are Monday-Friday (8:30a-5:00p)
Plus Special / Community events which may require weekend and evening hours
Requirements
• Must have a flexible schedule to accommodate community events at various days/times including nights & weekends
• Must be able to provide own transportation to/from ballpark and community events
• Candidates should be mature, responsible, dependable and able to work well independently while providing consistent updates to supervisor
• Exceptional organizational ability and attention to detail are extremely important
• Must possess strong oral and written communication skills
• Must be outgoing and comfortable speaking to groups
• The successful candidate will be adaptable, versatile and tactful in dealings with the public, partners, players and staff
• Preferred candidates will be locally based with an existing knowledge of Salem - Keizer and nearby communities
