Description
We offer a unique 6 month intern program, with the opportunity to apply for a full-time position at DL at the end of the program. You will be exposed to all aspects of design and follow the process all the way through from research & development to fabrication and merchandising. As a design intern, you will work directly with our designer on all upcoming collections, assisting with fabric research; trim sourcing and all aspects of product development.
As part of our small team in NYC, you will be exposed to and engage with all of our in house departments, offering the opportunity gain a well-rounded learning experience of the industry as a whole.
Responsibilities
- Assist with daily design tasks such as fabric/trim research.
- Perform minor pattern amendments when necessary.
- Liaise with manufacturers and suppliers.
- Create technical illustrator drawings of collection pieces throughout development period.
- Assist Design director with the research and development of concept boards during initial design phase.
Requirements
- Experience in Technical Designs; tech packs, specs etc.
- Understand garment construction and fabrication.
- Possess skills at pattern cutting, sewing (both hand and machine), textile knowledge; Adobe Photoshop; Adobe Illustrator.
- Perform well in an environment that requires quick-thinking and knowledge based initiative, perform with efficiency, dependability, and organization.
- Ability to communicate clearly and articulately with both suppliers and manufacturers.
- Bring a positive attitude to each and every task.
