Description
The Fashion Teaching Assistant will support the classroom instructors in weeklong fashion themed art camps for students ages 11 – 14 and high school immersions for students 14 – 17 during the summer 2013 semester. This is an unpaid opportunity with the possibility of college internship credits or Federal Work Study through participating colleges and universities.
Responsibilities
Work directly with students aged 11-17 in a studio art classroom setting. Some Teaching Assistant responsibilities include gathering and preparing materials for class, giving students individual encouragement and technical assistance and escorting children throughout our building and Shadyside compound.
Requirements
Potential candidates will be able to effectively manage a classroom of up to 20 students, work as a team member, be reliable, and have excellent communication and customer service skills. The assistant must have experience or education in fashion design and/or fiber arts with working knowledge of methods like hand/machine sewing, tailoring and draping.
Experience working with children or teaching and Act 33/34 are clearances required.
