DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Provides engineering assistance in identifying, evaluating, managing and rehabilitating various systems and facilities within the Engineering Branch. Performs and reviews engineering computations. Reviews, researches, analyzes and prepares various records, reports and other data. Conducts field studies and inspections. Prepares plans and specifications. Investigates general public inquiries and prepares responses. Develops and designs new layouts, drawings, etc. Maintains and monitors facilities and systems. Applies appropriate operating procedures to enhance functioning of facilities and systems. Coordinates the design, development, evaluation and implementation of multi-engineering disciplines to improve operations, procedures and systems. Duties include the preparation and evaluation of various drawings, reports, designs and data testing for various Capital Improvement Projects (CIP) in the Engineering Branch. Coordinates the planning and implementation of design and construction projects. Prepares correspondence such as letters, interoffice memoranda, reports, etc. Coordinates and plans improvements with various departments, outside agencies and civic associations.
Will require standing, walking, and include whatever means necessary to climb stairs and the ability to perform and negotiate field hazards.
This is a Department of Public Works Engineering Emergency Management position at the Tier 3 Level.
Preferences will be given to applicants with knowledge of personal computer spreadsheets, word processing and Geographic Information Systems. **Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.**

Pay Grade 22
