Role Summary
Under the direction of the top government relations executive, assists in the development and maintenance of policies and procedures to ensure the corporation's awareness of and impact on federal, state and local legislation affecting the company.
Responsibilities
Analyze and monitor critical government trends, proposed legislation and regulations and industry issues in order to provide a consistent and favorable business environment. Represent Cigna's interests with elected officials and regulators.
Conduct research and gather internal and external data to support company positions on various state legislative and regulatory proposals, other administrative action and emerging issues.
Provide information related to current legislative, regulatory and other government activities to senior staff as appropriate and communicate effectively with appropriate line-of-business managers and legal counsel.
Manage special projects assigned by Senior Director, State Government Affairs, developing action plans and managing projects to completion.
Utilize independent judgment and discretion, conducts research and analysis related to pending legislative and regulatory proposals, other administrative action and emerging issues.
Qualifications
4 year college degree, preferably in liberal arts, JD or Masters preferred.
Requires:
At least 4 years of experience in legislative analysis
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently, exercise judgment, and manage multiple competing priorities
Creativity, flexibility and demonstrated excellent organizational skills.
