A well established licensed home care services agency located in midtown Manhattan has an opportunity for an individual looking for hands-on experience in the home health care field. Learn all aspects of the operation of a health care business. We expect ideas, creativity and observations to be shared with us! A great learning opportunity with many hands-on activities as well as working with seasoned professionals. We have an affiliated trade school for paraprofessional health care training that may be an excellent fit as well.

Responsibilities

All functions of the finance department, including time and attendance verification, use of calculator, assist the finance officers with day-to-day functions as they need as well as what you need to learn! We're not afraid of you teaching us a few things either! Coordination assistance with the coordinating department, including time and attendance verificiation, calls to field personnel and clients. Human Resource functions, including recruitment, retention, compliance and other personnel related matters. Assist the nursing department with administrative duties and compliance. Assist the nurse-consultant with full QA responsibilities which are the core to running our licensed and accredited organization. Learn to develop and revise policies and procedures, conduct audits, measure outcomes, graph trends and uncover weaknesses. Participate in staff meetings, the processes of negotiating, securing and maintaining contractual relationships and risk management.

Requirements

A major in health care management is ideal. A sophmore level in college or higher. MHA and MPH candidates too! Bi-lingual skills (English/Spanish) required. Thorough understanding and experience in MS Office suite. Ability to research via the internet as well as use web-based programs for staff functions. Dependability and punctuality is a must. If you would like to take part in field operations with the nursing department, you will need a complete physical examination to be up to date (within 6 months of internship), including rubella, rubeola titers, mumps, measles and pertussis immunity, PPD testing with negative results and the ability to participate in the field operations without any physical or medical restrictions.
