Description
The Patchwork Group, a nonprofit organization that provides health education and services to at-risk populations, is looking for interns to join our team. At the completion of the internship, the intern will have concrete experience presenting basic health information to diverse audiences.
Responsibilities
Present topics at health-related workshops to at-risk populations. Assist with the development of programs and events. Distribute health-related brochures and educational materials. Share health resources with at-risk populations. Assist with the collection and analysis of data to learn about the audience and improve programs. Meet weekly/bi-weekly to discuss upcoming events.
Requirements
Current baccalaureate student or recent college graduate of a health education or education program. Equivalent programs will be considered. College credit for internship is negotiable. Knowledge of health-related illnesses that impact at-risk populations, such as HIV/AIDS, diabetes, and hypertension. Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing. Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Must have access to reliable and efficient transportation. Ability to interact with diverse populations with sensitivity. Health Education, Education, Public Health, Communication, Biology, and Chemistry are preferred. Others majors will be considered.
