Job Summary:
This internship focuses on supporting the Health and Wellness Case Managers and the clientele that they serve. The intern assumes a supportive role on the treatment team by providing support and assisting with various activities associated with case management. The intern will work closely with the health and wellness staff. This position is unpaid.
Training and Support:
• The Centers unpaid staff orientation (one time)
• Clinical supervision weekly or as needed Comprehensive training to use technology required in the project (one time, ongoing)
• Support and on-the-job training from supervisor and the Volunteer Engagement Office (ongoing)
• Training opportunities including invitations to The Centers’ trainings for all staff as appropriate (ongoing)
• Staff evaluation and recognition programs (ongoing)
Goals:
• Gain knowledge of how Case Managers interact with their clients
• Gain the ability to work independently with clients (may carry a small caseload)
• Gain knowledge of community resources
Time Commitment:
15-20 hours per week, flexible with school schedule. Evening hours may be required.

Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
• Observe client sessions with Case Managers
• Assume supportive role in the development of treatment plans
• Create client notes and provide follow up session with clients as needed
• Ride with case managers in transporting clients to appointments or visits with potential of driving clients to appointments
• May be responsible for covering intake
• Conduct MH Assessment to identify diagnosis and services needed
• Performs liaison activities within the community for purposes of screening, assessing, planning, linking, advocating, and monitoring
• Support the staff in the Access Clinic
• Attend case managers staff meetings
• Participate in weekly supervision
• Support on-call function
• Performs basic administrative tasks related to the job
• May work on special assignments as requested
Requirements
Qualifications:
• Must be in a Master’s Level Social Work Program, 2nd year students preferred
• Licensure preferred, trainee license required
• One year experience working in a behavioral/mental health setting
• The ability to work with a diverse group of people
• Must have a valid drivers’ license with a good driving record
