Description

This internship is designed to help the student develop skills in human resources, organizational communication and organizational management. Intern reports directly to the Human Resources Generalist. Applicants should be enrolled in Human Resources, Business, or related degree. Semesters available: •Summer & Fall 2013 and Spring 2014 Duties and Tasks: Specific job duties and tasks will consist of the following, with consideration of the intern’s interests and the company’s needs: •Update employee files and training records •Process terminated employee files •Assist interviewing committee in conducting interviews and making hiring selections and placement suggestions •Compile insurance/benefit information for employees •Communicate with employees, managers and agencies to resolve employment issues and answer employment questions •Maintain and develop current recruitment and retention programs •Conduct professional/personal reference checks for potential employees •Develop understanding of Human Resource areas including ?insurance/benefits ?payroll ?recruitment ?interviews/selection process ?disciplinary procedure/terminations ?training ?policies and procedure Time commitment: •12-15 hours per week •Flexible hours
