Waste Management (WM) Inc. is North America's leading provider of integrated environmental solutions. Strategic Business Solutions (SBS) is one of the larger business unit within WM. WM SBS is located in Windsor, CT and responsible for managing waste services for WM's most prestigious and largest commercial customers.
As an Information Technology Business Analyst IV, the highest level of Business Analyst at WM SBS, you will work closely with key senior business stakeholders to identify, document & manage business requirements, design specifications, business processes changes and recommendations related to the proposed solution design via industry standard analysis techniques. You will also have an opportunity to continue to develop your project management skills as you lead teams through strategically important projects and programs. Finally, adoption of the solutions you design and realization of benefits, will be your most important responsibility.
Act as an Information Technology Business Analyst IV, you will conduct business process analysis, identify improvement opportunities, and work closely with business customers and IT leadership to define project scope, timeline and plan. You will be the primary contact for your project and assigned tasks and expected to drive business solutions and champion change.
II. Duties and Responsibilities include the following. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily. Individuals may be asked to perform one or more of the following roles.
Business Analyst related functions
Gain deep understanding of current business processes and requirements
Communicate and coordinate with users to determine and document business and user requirements, process flow definitions, and functional specifications and functional design
Act as a liaison between technical staff and business owners
Assist project team with gaining business user acceptance
Responsible for document repositories, maintenance and updates of project documentation library
Mentor and assist in development of business analyst peers
Project Management related functions
Understand WMSBS's project methodology and deliverable structure for IT projects
Manage risks, issues, and the change control process
Identify and engage key stakeholders
Facilitate meetings and communicate key decisions
Communicate effectively to various stakeholders through status reports and other methods
Review project progress and evaluate results for accuracy and efficiency
Drive business transformation - change the current state into a more effective and efficient future state aligned to goals and objectives
Adoption & Business Value Realization functions
Develop adoption plans
Develop metrics to track the success of the projects
Act as a liaison between the learning and development group and the project stake holders
Track adoption metrics and work with the learning and development group and senior leadership to address adoption issues.
The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job.
A. Education and Experience
Required: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, MIS, Business Administration or similar area of study and and at least 8 years of related experience."
Preferred: MBA and at least 8 years of related experience.
B. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Other Requirements
Preferred: Certificate of Competency, Business Analyst (CCBA), Certified Business Analyst Professional (CBAP), and/or Certified Scrum Master (CSM)
