Responsibilities
U. S. Steel's Minnesota Ore Operations includes two open pit mines and processing facilities in Northern MN (Minntac in Mt. Iron and Keetac in Keewatin) and has the following temporary, full-time vacancy for the summer of 2013 that will perform projects at the Minntac location.
INTERN AGGLOMERATOR MAINTENANCE - ELECTRICAL: Reporting directly to the Area Manager of Agglomerator Maintenance, the successful candidate will work closely with other electrical maintenance personnel and will be assigned a variety of projects including, but not limited to, developing improved predictive and preventative maintenance procedures for high voltage equipment across the Minntac facility. This project will include creating a preventative maintenance schedule that encompasses all main switchyards within the facility. The candidate will also work with Agglomerator Electrical Department to identify and plan for replacement or upgrade of existing plant electrical systems that are obsolete or in need of additional protection in order to provide reliable operation. In addition, this position will be responsible to carry out and conduct activities in compliance with the U. S. Steel Safety program to ensure a safe work environment within the assigned facility.
Requirements
The position requires the candidate to be currently enrolled as a full-time student pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field and have completed, or be working towards completion, of their sophomore year and be in good academic standing. The successful candidate will also exhibit excellent communications, planning, and organizational skills and be proficient using Microsoft Office and other web-based applications.
