VMware’s Treasury Department is responsible for liquidity management, investments, foreign exchange risk management, banking relationships and capital market activities. The duties of this internship will include both project-based and daily activities in the areas of liquidity management, cash forecasting, banking and risk management. The intern will report to the Treasury Manager, but will also work with each functional manager in Treasury and will obtain exposure to other finance departments.
Assess the Company’s counterparty risk to our financial partners. The Company partners with many financial institutions to carry out the department’s activities and goals. The intern will evaluate all of the financial institutions we employ, assess their credit rating/spreads and devise a model where we can review our counterparty risk quarterly. This project will involve understanding the department’s activities, financial institution relationships, and utilizing Bloomberg and other data sources to assess the counterparties.
Assist with the evaluation of treasury workstations, which will involve: business requirements assessment, vendors identifications, solution evaluation, request for proposal (RFP) preparation, demos set up, partners evaluation and management recommendation.
Finally, daily activities may include basic banking and treasury operations activities, such as daily liquidity management, bank account compliance management and identifying efficiencies in reporting. In this role the intern will act as an aide to the Assistant Treasurer and Treasury Managers to perform standard reports, ad hoc financial analysis, and miscellaneous projects.

Previous work experience in management consulting, systems, or finance is a plus
