Description

The Engineering Group is responsible for the design and implementation of the ESPN broadcast production systems. The ESPN broadcast production system supports the daily creation of media, live show production and broadcast of all ESPN products through our various distribution channels. The Engineering team gathers new system operational requirements, assembles a plan for completing a design and implementation of completed design and executes on that plan in order to meet ESPN’s ever changing technological requirements.

The Engineering Co-Op position is open to rising College Seniors interested in sports, engineering and the broadcast environment. This person is responsible for assisting ESPN engineers in daily tasks as well as projects. If you are graduated you do not qualify for an internship. Please apply to full time positions.
You must be currently matriculating within a degree program and in good academic standing; available for employment within 12 months of the internship. Graduation date of August 2013, Fall 2013 or Spring 2014.
If you apply for a position that requires you to have certain skills you must have those skills to qualify. This is not a training program.
10 weeks; 40 hours/week
Ability to work nights and weekends as necessary
Subsidized housing is available on a first come first serve basis for interns who live greater than 50 miles of work location
Authorized to work in the United States for any company
Intern must be able to provide his/her own transportation to and from work.

Responsibilities

•Responsible for learning about ESPN, Inc facilities and workflows in order to better understand ESPN Engineering’s customers. This may require working evening hours and weekends.
•Assisting Engineers with daily tasks.
•Assisting Engineers with current projects from the design through implementation phases.
•Learn about ESPN’s production and operations workflows.
•Update documentation of the workflows.
•Assist program management team with planning activities.

Basic Qualifications •Good organizational skills
•Customer service oriented attitude
•Must enjoy working in a high-tech team
•Familiarity with AutoCAD
•Fluency with Microsoft Office product (Excel, Word)
•You must be currently matriculating within a degree program and in good academic standing; available for employment within 12 months of the internship. Graduation date of August 2013, Fall 2013 or Spring 2014.
•Be authorized to work in the U.S. for any company.
•Be enrolled in a BS program in Engineering or Computer Science.

Preferred Qualifications Sense of humor and a passion for sports
Strong analytical skills
Broadcast or digital media experience is a plus
Network experience is a plus
